Meet Your dentist
Dr Daniel Ghaly
B.Med, B.Dent, FRACGP
As a local Novocastrian, Daniel started his career as a doctor, completing a Bachelor of Medicine at Newcastle University in 2003. He later went on to complete his fellowship as a qualified General Practitioner with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
Throughout his career, Daniel undertook several positions within the department of surgery at John Hunter Hospital, including Oral and Maxillofacial surgical specialties. It is in these areas where Daniel's interests truly lie.
After several years practicing as a doctor, Daniel then decided to follow his interest and passion in Dentistry and completed a Bachelor of Dentistry from the University of Sydney in 2011.
Having both Medical and Dental degrees allows Daniel to view and treat all patients and cases in a well rounded manner. Daniel strives to deliver only the highest attention to detail to each and every patient and treatment plan.
Daniel's special interests lie in oral surgery, implants, complex restorative and crown and bridge cases.
Dr Hannah Gunson
BOH (DentSci), GradDipDent.
Dr Hannah Gunson brings over 13 years of experience in general dentistry to the team at Crown Dentistry, offering friendly, down-to-earth care for patients of all ages. She’s passionate about helping people feel relaxed in the chair and confident about their oral health, no matter where they’re starting from.
Known for her calm and compassionate approach, Hannah makes sure her patients feel informed, supported, and comfortable throughout their dental journey. She offers a full range of general dental services — from check-ups and cleans to restorative work and more — always delivered with a gentle touch and a genuine smile.
Before joining Crown Dentistry, Hannah spent several years caring for a loyal group of patients in the Hunter region including Raymond Terrace, building strong, long-term relationships based on trust and open communication. If you’ve been looking to reconnect with her, or you’re after a dentist who really takes the time to listen, she’d love to welcome you.
Dr Tanisha Fernando
BDSc
Dr Tanisha Fernando completed her BDSc at Charles Sturt University in Orange, where she received a Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence.
She has a gentle and supportive chair-side manner and has a passion for all facets of dentistry. She understands that many people struggle with dental anxiety and strives to make dental visits a little easier for everyone.
Tanisha loved discovering the hidden gems of Orange, but relocated to Newcastle upon graduation to be closer to the ocean. In her spare time you’ll find her by the beach, for a swim, a walk or a run.
Meet Your TEAM
Krystal Stewart
Krystal is a dedicated Oral Health Therapist who started her dental career in 2012. Krystal completed a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy in 2018 with dual qualifications as both a Dental Therapist and Dental Hygienist.
Her passion for oral health is evident in the way she engages with patients of all ages, from young children to adolescents. Krystal ensures that every dental visit is not only productive, but also a pleasant and carefree experience.
Krystal is dedicated about furthering her skills and knowledge not only in Oral Health, but overall health to be able to provide the best possible treatment for all of her patients. When patients see Krystal, they can expect that fantastic post-clean feel, as well as detailed, tailored advice and instruction on dental hygiene and maintaining excellent oral and dental health.
Beyond her professional life, Krystal is a devoted mother to her two children and cherishes quality time with her family.
Amy
Amy has been working as a dental assistant for over 10 years, and alongside Dr Ghaly for over 6 years. She has worked at several practices in Newcastle, including several dental specialist practices. She has completed her Certificate III in Dental Assisting and is undertaking further study to develop her skills in the field. She is competent in all fields of assisting including oral surgery and implants. Amy is always able to ensure patients’ treatment is completed smoothly and comfortably.
Amy manages the IV sedation facility and general anaesthetic hospital lists, and attends Lingard Private hospital for more complex procedures.
When she isn’t cheering on the Knights, you’ll find Amy at either the gym, or the bar.
Ruby
Ruby is always smiling and laughing and has a warm, friendly welcome for all patients. She has been working as a dental assistant for over 5 years and is very caring and empathetic.
